Lo-Fi / Sports Dreams
Lo-Fi teams up with Sports Dreams, a multi-medium exhibition by Tim Meakins and Ryan Sandilands to produce a Jersey and T-Shirt. Sports Dreams looks at taking the player away from the spotlight of sport and putting the mascot as the star of the show, to be a fuzzy athlete that just wants to succeed on their own terms in the world of sports.
In keeping with the idea of Sports, Tim and Ryan became intrigued by the rise of the bootlegged, ‘fake’, merchandise and the industry that revolves around it. An idea that works perfectly with how these characters have been produced and re-produced in multiple forms within the exhibition.
For this collaboration, Lo-Fi enlisted Brisbane (Meanjin) artist Visaya Hoffie to redraw and reassess what our mascot could and would look like from her perspective.
